Guild Meeting Events Calendar
Workshop times may vary and could be subject to change at short notice.
Members can attend workshops free, non-members there will be a charge. There also maybe a small charge for materials for all attendees. Details will be sent out in good time before the event. All Guild meetings of the Northants Spinners, Weavers and Dyers are held on the 2nd Saturday of each calendar month at Denton Village Hall from 10 am to 4 pm unless otherwise specified. 2024 Programme: January: AGM Meeting February: Crochet with Claire Learn various joining methods in crochet. March: Pattern Making With Wendy In this workshop Wendy will teach you how to draft a pattern from one of your favourite garments. Please bring something you love to wear and would like to replicate. April: Needle Felting With Chloe Learn the basics of needle felting, including creating a wire aperture whilst creating a cute sheep. May: Fleece Appreciation With Helen and Special Visitor Dr Kate Drury Helen will share her wisdom on picking fleeces ready for the next months fleece sale as well as ideas around combining fibres for this years chairman's challenge. Dr Kate Drury visits us from the Wool Marketing Board and she will be giving us a presentation on wool uses in the afternoon. June: Fleece Sale and Tatting With Hilary Our traditional fleece sale because we always need more fleece - and maybe we will have more uses after our talk from Kate... Hilary will be running a session on Lace Tatting - the method of making lace using shuttles instead of bobbins. July: TBC August: Felted Slippers With Rudy Rudy will be hosting a wet felting workshop to create slippers. This is our traditional meeting in the garden and picnic. September: TBC October: Stick Weaving With Ann Rogers Ann will be running a workshop on stick weaving. November: Fibre Blending With Linda A reprieve of a workshop Linda ran a few year ago, experiment with blending different fibres. December: Christmas Party Communal lunch, posh raffle, good company and the Spinning Wheel Round Robbin (back by popular demand!) Appropriate sign up sheets will be at Guild meetings and on Facebook as workshops come up. |
